Ok so I made the biggest mistake by feeding him a mealworm lol and it seems that he's just waiting for me to give him another! It was just a treat but now he doesn't seem to pay attention to them crickets! Is it alright for such a young veiled to go on a hunger strike? I know it's possible for adults but would such a tiny guy even be able to survive his protest? Anyone had similar encounters?? Thanks :)

As much as he may want a mealworm now, you should probably just wait a little bit. Chameleons do not let themselves starve. If he is truly hungry he will see the cricket and forget all about the mealworm.

Very hard to digest. Ok now and again. His diet should be varied. If he likes worms you could offer small silks and Calciworms. Small crickets fed from a cup so you can remove them at night.:)

Calciworms look just like waxworms. Are they the same, just gutloaded? I was looking at some today, I hit petco looking to see if they had any calcuim without d3 and they didn't and looked at the calciworms. Maybe the one down the street from where I work might, will have to hit there on the way home tomorrow. Fingolfin doesn't seem to like waxworms so far. I gave him a few in a shallow dish and I think he nailed one and spit it back out. Unless it was because I came up to check on him and see if he ate and had one in his mouth.

Calci worms or Phoenix worms are not the same as wax worms. Calcii worms are high in calcium. Wax worms are high in fat. Get your calcium without d3 on line. Petco not the best.:D

Mine does same , it's been 2weeks . Had him eating super worms for 2 weeks now trying to get him to eat Dubia Roaches is impossible .

I would be iffy on mealworms just because of the chitlin in the shell is pretty hard to digest if they don't have the proper heating. I would put crickets in there in a feeder and leave them in there for him. He won't ignore them long, young chameleons are feasters and eat a ton especially at there age. So skip the meal worms for a bit and let him re adjust. You could however associate the mealworm with the crickets and throw it in the feeder to entice it. here is a great video on how to make a homemade feeder, its what I use in all my cages.
