well im soon to be getting a new cage for my lil guy. they grow u so fast. im going to be purchasing his permeant home. the only problem i have is which size i should get. now i know what size i need, im just in debate with myself on getting an 18*18*36 or a 24*24*48. i know the bigger the better and i want him to have a nice cage. money isnt really a problem here for the cage, its more of a problem of space and finding a table to hold this cage. i think i would have better luck finding a 18*18 table than a 24*24 that is inexpensive. a table is something i dont want to spend alot of money on because i will be dripping a hole threw it for the drainage system anyways and there is no sense spending more than 50 bucks on a table. anyone have any helpful advice or know of any place to get a good cheap table 24*24? anyways thanks

Ikea

John,

Careful with Ikea. I got a cheap one there and ended up not liking the height. Make sure you check them out in person or think about the height. I got a cheap plastic utility sink from Lowes that worked well with minor adjustments (i.e., drilling a couple of boards across to hold it up).

My 24X24X48 cage is sitting on one of those large plastic totes that you can get anywhere. I have a piece of plywood slightly larger than the cage dimensions. I have not as of yet created a drainage system, but once I get a misting system I am sure I will figure it out real fast!

Howdy,

In the long run, your critter will benefit most from a 24x24x48 enclosure that is raised-up enough to have his basking spot above everyone's head. I ended-up using low cost bar stools from Target. They are heavy duty all wood construction. I added a large solid surface (a wooden "Lazy Susan" and then the drain pan on top of that) on top of the seat's wood surface.

Here's a photo from a couple of years ago. Things are still mostly the same (except the plants are on plant stands).

Seems to me that I remember paying around $30-$40 each (square seats). I would have choked on $60 and gone elsewhere... (round seats... Must be different than mine... more expensive wood?) http://www.target.com/gp/detail.htm...0/602-4971204-2423806?ie=UTF8&asin=B000BW3FRM. If you have an unfinished furniture store, checkout their stools. Just make sure that everything is pretty stable and not prone to tipping over. A 30" stool and a 48" enclosure sill put your critter at a nice height. Anyway, that'll give you some more ideas :).

hey thanks for the ideas. has it ever fallen over or came close to it? where did you get the drainage tray under the cage? anyways thank for the ideas

Whenever I'm looking for a table or something to put under a pet cage, I check out the thrift stores. Goodwill or Salvation Army stores have great deals on old tables that just need a good coat of paint or covering with contact paper...

You can usually find an end table or something for between 15 to 25 bucks, maybe less....

yea i was going to check over there first. i got alot of those around me anyways so i think i might be able to get a good steal. ive also been keeping my eyes open on trash day and seeing if anyone is throwing away some furniture that i can get for free. ive stopped a few times but not good measurements, lol. thanks
