Okay The Eye has Gotten Worse!

I cant post my info again because im on my iphone but its a couple of threads down if you want to look. My chameleons right eye was bothering him so he would close it often. I was told compact uvb bulbs cause eye problems but i have a newer version and plan on getting the tube version this weekend. I tried giving him a shower n he didnt really like it an it didnt seem to help. Now my brother just called me saying that he saw him rubbing his eye agaisnt a branch and that it looked pink and like he was "extending" it out of his socket. Does that remind u of anything? Or did he see wrong? I have really appreciated the help i have gotten so far so im counting on some solid info. Thanks a ton.

Sounds like he is cleaning it. Since he hates the shower may be a extra long warm hand mist. This will give him a chance to clean it out himself.

Is he getting ready to shed or has he shed recently?

you can try to use Saline Solution eye wash aswell.

any walmart, walgreens, dollar store ect. Its just normal saline solution for contact lenses.

I don't think it's the bulb. A few things come to mind.

1) Something is in the eye irritating it. Could be why he is bulging it and rubbing it. You could use saline to clean it. Shoot a stream into his eye enough to fill the turret, he will do the rest. Should help after a couple times.

2) Begining of a eye infection. You will need a vet to get drops to clear it up.

3) Possible Vit. A deficiency. You need to work on your gutload to assure proper nutrition. You can add a suppliment with vitamim A like reptivite or Repashy vit. A to your suppliment scheduale.

really there is no need to supplement any extra solutions or vitamins for this situation. just keep up with your mistings.

I had a lot of these issues when I first got my cham. It is most likely something in his eye....everybody recommends showers but it sounds like your guy, like my guy, hates them (my guy will close his eyes and run/fall until he is out of the water, its rather ridiculous).

I bought some "TERRAMYCIN" from one of the site sponsors for about $14. Just apply a tiny bit to his eye and let him do the "eye bulge" thing to rub it through...should clear out.
