OLIVE !!!! BAD girl- SPIT THAT OUT

well, there is no more debate as to if I was going to feed Olive snails- most of you saw my last post on snails - I was still not 100% sure I wanted her to have them- I WAS going to ask my vet his thoughts on them also,as well as what THE BEST FORUM in the world thoght about it- ( thats YOU ALL )
and you know I call her the crabby vine LUMP- Olive does not move hardly at all- she is happy to sit on her vine all day, under her dripper, eat what ever gets close enough , and at night move about 6" under her leaf - well, I always do a sopt clean in the AM before going to work - I leave her door open because SHE DOES NOT MOVE - I also had the snail drawer open next to her cage- I was gut loading them just in case I decided to let her have a few- well, I went to fill her spray bottle , I was gone maybe 1 min/ - she was IN the snails- chewing one up !!! - the ONLY way she could have gotten in that was to drop off her open door - not a far drop- but OMG- I did not think Olive would move for anything, let alone do it fast ! so now- I am not feeding her another- the one she ate seemed ok for size - she chose it ~ but I was not ready for her to eat one- I will now worry- germs-what if she does not poop it out - anything else I should worry about ( as if there is not enough to worry about ) but when I went to take her out of there- she stood on her toes- and almost acted like I was another cham- defending them! she knew just what those were- when I left for work- she was sitting at the bottom of her cage- as close as she could get to those snails - I dont think she has ever been to the bottom of her cage- lol she wants more !

I hope her little treat turns out to be just fine for her digestive system and overall health!

no kidding- it is the first time she has ever looked worried, and sad - it was sad to see her sitting at the bottom of her cage - pouting - but the way she reacted to them- WOW - I do have a fear that she will turn "snails only please" on me she is so dang fussy - she will have NOTHING to do w/ any type of feeder that is worm or worm looking- but I am sure she was wc - and this just sets it - if she were a cb - I do not think she would have reacted so strong to the snails- ya think ??

LOL- yes- that was about the look on her face at first it scared me- I thought she would choke if I tried to get it from her- so I just left her have it - but then she got all "hissy" when I went to take her out - she was getting ready to dive onto another one , but I got her- she was NOT happy about being taken out of there - how long should I wait to give her another? I want to be sure she poops ok now- how long will it take for it to go threw her ? I will get a pic of her eating the next one

Well now you know she likes them and it is worth the effort to breed the snails for her. I am ready to go snail hunting this weekend myself!

oh yeah, she likes them no doubt - they match each other speed wise- lol I think with her lack of movment, any day moss will start to grow on her butt !

Loved that story! I have about 100 snails and when I introduced them to Popeye he fired up and turned round and walked away. Anyone want some snails.LOL

This was an enjoyable read!
Also when it comes to feeding my jackson chameleon snails, I never give him anything bigger than twice the size of a green pea. It seems like the shells are still very soft at that stage.

i was wondering what you were going to do with all those snails but it looks like Olive decided for you!! that's hilarous how she defended her snails when you went to pick her up, lol sounds like she may have rediscovered her favorite food from the wild!!!
