Hi! So I just got this Veiled Chameleon about a week ago from Petsmart (yikes). He was in a super small cage with standing water. He looks heathy, from what I can tell. Although before purchasing him I did lots of research and I can remember reading that if they're eyes are closed its a huge health red flag. So when I first noticed, about two days ago, that he had only one eye closed I starting searching to see what was his diagnosis, what I came up with was a lack of Vitamin A, curious if anyone agrees. It seems logical due to the poor treatment he got from a pet store. Lack of nutrition. However, if you agree this is the case, should i go about with the smearing vitamin A in half drop quantities across a crickets back over a period of seven days? Or will the one eye closed correct itself with a good diet. I have him in a 16x16x36 size cage with a basking light and a UVB, basking 100 Watt, and UVB, 13 Watt, Its a Reptisun 5.0 UVB for clarity. I am now feeding him gut loaded crickets on Flukers High Calcium. Which claims to have Vitamin A. Please post any thoughts of suggestions you have as to why he is closing one eye. I have a mister system and i have sprayed indirectly at his eye so I do not think it is a piece of skin caught, however he did finished shedding about 4 days ago. Thank you!! His one eye is only closed until a noise or distraction comes about, if a cricket comes near, he will open it and follow perfectly.
