One Eyed Chameleon Care.

After a visit to the vets I discovered that my Chameleon Rambo has sadly ruptured his eye. We believe this was due to bumping into the end of one of his walkways. I was given the option to either take him to surgery to remove the remainder of his eye or to leave it and try to keep it as clean as possible. After speaking to the breeder I purchased Rambo from he told me surgery is not recommended as the stress would usually kill them. So I have decided to clean it out 3x a week with a saline solution.

He still seems to be able to catch the crickets that I place in his food bowl (which has helped due to him knowing that food comes from there) but I have only seen him catch them close range I do not know if he will be able to catch them long range yet.

I wanted to know if anyone else has dealt with a one eyed Chameleon and what additional care would be required?

Info:
Rambo is 8 months old with the correct supplements and I am going to be using these saline eye drops.

His bad eye is the picture where he is sleeping.

If you need anymore information please let me know thanks.

I had a panther chameleon that had cancer in its eye and there was no choice but to remove it. He learned to shoot his tongue at insects accurately..it took a bit of practice and some help in the beginning though. For the first week he walked in circles, but then figured out how to walk “normally”. He was 5 when the surgery was done and lived over a year after the surgery was done.
