One stressed out baby

So I removed and replaced my veiled chameleons plant in her enclosure, which was needed since the plant she had was toxic if eaten and she started to chew on the leaves. I had to replace it quick. I haven't had her for that long so she was very dark just from my hand being in there. I can't imagine how stressed out she must have gotten from me holding her! But I didn't know what else to do. I couldn't let her stay with a plant I now know she's chewing on. I read that your chameleon could still have that plant in its cage as long as they didn't eat it, so please don't think I'm a bad owner :( It's been several hours since I gave her the new plant which is chameleon safe, yet she is still dark and keeps pacing back and fourth between two vines! I don't know what to do right now. How can I help her calm down or get more comfortable?! Do I leave her alone??

Cage rearranging can be stressful. You didn't do anything wrong. Changing out her plant if she started to eat it was exactly the right thing to do. Does the new plant give her enough foliage for a good hiding spot? She'll settle down. Leave her alone for a bit and keep up her regular routine. In a few days, she'll be back to normal.

Thank you so much! She has plenty of foliage and her color has gotten lighter. I'm glad I'm not doing anything wrong. It was hard to tell with her being so stressed out. Thank you :)
