I'm right with Xraygirl. I have raised orchids for years, and have some that are clones of the original plants that are over 25 years old. Orchids are beautiful, just as our chameleons are. Even though I'm a Nosy Be kind of a guy, I think carpets are stunning. I have some catteleyas and a nice vanda that I would be proud to see the flowers half eaten. Rock the orchids, and enjoy them.
Sorry, I'm just now getting this tag Yes orchids are safe, just persnickety on watering and lighting. I always get the death rack orchids at HD or lowes because most times the only thing wrong with them is the flower stalk broke off, or they are just really, really thirsty. That way you're not dropping $30-40+ on a orchid for a chameleon to possibly destroy.
You just have to be careful where you put them in the water water wise, you don't want water to sit in the crown of them, or they'll rot and die.
Did you get your carpet yet? After you noted that you got yours from Jason McKnight, I looked him up on Chameleon Central USA. He told me on Friday that he had set aside a pair for me. I had requested pictures of them and hadn't received them by Saturday so I asked him to send them to me. That's when he told me, "I can send you pics on Monday of what's available" following a Sunday expo he had scheduled. I told him I was willing to pay for them that day (Saturday) rather than waiting until Monday to get whatever was left over after the Expo. He said, "Ok, let me see." That was Saturday and I haven't heard anything since. I'm really bummed. I guess it wasn't meant to be but thanks for the tip. Enjoy your little Carpet and be sure to post a pic when you get him. Good luck!!Hey guys are orchids safe for chams? I waiting for my carpet to be mailed in just a few days and I'm finishing up his enclosure. Thanks!
