Ordered new cham today

Cham-Ordered this morning, on his way.

Suppliments-Repcal multivitamins and calcium w/o d3
Water-I have the Big Dripper and a mist bottle
Feeding-I have a cricket cage ready to fill with flukers cricket quencher for gutloading along with other fruits.

Cage Info:
Cage type-16x16x20 mesh cage
Lighting- 5.0 Reptiglo tube with 18 inch hood
Heating- heat lamp with a 60w lightbulb
Plants-a good sized Schefflera covering most of the cage. Also have a large piece of gnarled wood with fake vines drooping throughout the cage.
Placement-on a desk in front of a window about 2 1/2 feet above the floor.
Timer-Timer for light and heat lamp to turn on at 9am and off at 9pm

This morning I ordered my new cham from chameleonsonly.com! here he is!

I am all set and ready for him to arrive! Below is a picture of my cage with my large schefflera inside of it (i've placed large black stones covering the soil in the pot). Sorry, i have yet to figure out how to turn my pictures right side up yet :/.... If anyone can think of anything else that I am missing, please feel free to post and let me know. I have work from 2-8 today and I will be eagerly awaiting to read all of the responses from y'all when i get home!

Also....I am having trouble thinking of a name. ANY ideas will help! If I like your recommendation then i will gladly use it for his name! Then you can say you named my new cham (bragging rights insentive.....cause i know you would brag about it to everybody ) talk to everyone tonight, THANKS ALL!!!!

I would switch the ReptiGlo Tube to a ReptiSun tube. That is what most people on here use and what i use. Better safe than sorry. You are gonna need to still supplement twice a month with calcium w/D3. Even though the cage is goin to be exposed to sunlight through the window, the glass prevents the d3 from getting to your cham. Your timer will probably have to be changed according to when your cham goes to sleep. They ususally are pretty predicable when it comes to bed times! I started with 8am to 8pm! and had to change it to 6am to 6pm. Otherwise everything sounds great! Congrats. Have you picked out a name yet?

I gave my girlfriend a baby redfoot tortoise for her birthday last month and got her some calcium with d3, i suppose i can snag some from her twice a month ill look around for a reptisun and see if there is any difference and ill watch his sleeping patterns closely to see when the little guy knocks out! no names yet, im taking all input

Why would you suggest to change the reptiglo? It works just as well as the reptisun.

The reptisun has not been associated with problems to my knowledge. Can you please state the problems you are referring to?

I like the ReptiSuns better too. Toss a meeter under 10 of each and the ZooMed bulb has a better % across the board.

Will your chameleon die from Reptiglo? No. Is it a big deal? Not really. Would I buy a 5.0 is 6 months when the glo is used up, sure...

I think he meant the issues with the coiled bulbs. That repti-glo didn't have any problems but the coil repti-suns were causing eye issues

I just have gone by what the majority of people are using! I have no experience or knowledge of the reptiglo so I have no idea if its good or bad! Its nice to see that there is another option to look for when my 6 months is up on my current Reptisun 5.0!!

I believe the number was found on the little instructions manual that comes with the bulbs, but somehow someone changed the manual and changed some numbers. Now you just gotta be sure if you use the coil bulbs that it isnt an older one.

Yes the coiled ones had problems and reptiglo is much cheaper i paid 10.00 for my coiled bulb.The reptisun compacts are like 25...

I have not yet found the thread but found a few links stating issues that the old 5.0 Repti-Sun coil bulbs were causing.

Your cham will feel safer if he is looking down on you instead of looking up at you.

That is just a "generic" picture of another bunch of babies that they hatched from the same sire. I've spent a lot of time on the phone with Liddy over the past few weeks talking about their beautiful babies.

I already have a male picked out from "Two Face" also but I want to get his cage set-up and things in order before I have him shipped. EXCELLENT choice in my opinion and the Kammers are truly a blessing to work with.

As for names.......I'm gonna let two of our Grandchildren pick that out after he arrives and settles in.

After you have had your cham for a little while your going to realize that hand misting becomes very tiresome and your going to want a misting system. I bought the $99 Mistking basic and I dont know how I ever lived without it. Marty who is a rep of theirs on this site has excellent customer service and has helped me any time I have had any questions. Another one people use is Aquazamp. I dont know much about theirs because I dont have one but you can use the search feature on this forum and find a million threads comparing the two. Good Luck!!!
