We are new to chameleons. This is out very first one. It is a 4 month old Panther Chameleon. We have had him about a week so far. He has been eating and drinking very well. This is what we have so far.

Thank you. I have a repti sun 5.0 uvb on the back left a 60watt regular bulb on the back right for heat and a cfl soft white in the front just for light for plants and encolsure

linear bulbs are more recommended for the uvb to give a more wide spread of light cover, would also prevent the need to have 3 fixtures up top. and on another note im almost positive the soft white bulb is doing very little for your plants. you want a daylight bulb, soft white and cool white are both too low in kelvin degrees. you want something closer to 6500k to imitate the suns colour

A linear bulb is optimal, but a good CFL can do the job as well. If you do use a CFL, I would make sure it is a ReptiSun 5.0 26w. it is even more important to have a good basking spot about 5-7" under the CFL since the distribution is smaller.

A 6500k (daylight) bulb is best for plants, and you want the highest wattage you can get. A 42w CFL fits in most of the deep dome ZooMed fixtures, something like this:

Yeah I do have a reptisun but it is the 5.0 13w

And also I changed out the soft white cfl in the front with a 6500k daylight cfl bulb
