hello!
i finally was able to make pictures of our new family member - so i was able to complete this questionnaire, plus post some pictures as mentioned from another user as answer to my first posting in this forum
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care? Veiled Chameleon, 4 years old - she is with us since 4 days
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? i have not handled her yet, i do not want to stress her
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders? i got dubian roaches from the previous owner, he suggested gutt loading with gerber baby food (fruit stuff). i offer her depending on the size 3-5 the day - so far, she never ate all of them. i got waxworms two days ago, and she loves them! i maybe gave her 4 or 5 the day in addition to the roaches
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule? rep cal reptivite - came with her
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking? i mist about 2 or 3 times the day, i have not seen her drinking yet. she also has a dripper in her cage, i fill it up twice the day
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? looks like rabbit poop????? i doubt she ever has been tested
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you.
Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions? screencage - 2 ft deep, 3 ft wide and 4 ft high
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule? the cage i right in front of a window - south side. repti glo 5.0 for lightning, 10 hours the day, 75 watt heat lamp during the same time as the repti glo, 40 watt night glo during night
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps? i have not had the chance to measure the temperature yet, but i switched the repti glo and the basking light i got from the prev. owner for new ones. with the 75 watt heat lamp she roams more in the cage than she did earlier - she was stucked right under the bulp for about 95% of the day before
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity? misting 2-3 times the day. i have not measured the humidity yet
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind? yes. pls see picture - one of my previous worries was that the little girl was hiding a lot on the ground of her cage - thats why i put a lower plant on the ground as well. she does not do this too often any more
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? in the guest room in the 2nd floor of our house. there are two more terrarium for amazon tree boas in the same room - so the rooms always stays warm and a bit humid, due to the heat lamps and the misting. yes, one box fan on low is running, plus an air vent for the ac. no street close
Location - Where are you geographically located?
ohio,
this little girl is now since 4 days with us - the kids she belonged to earier lost interest in her.it worries me she always shows a dark green/brown colour, also, she seems to have problems with her left eye - she does not move it at all, i think she has a growth there as well! she fell down from the branches a few times what really worries me - i put hardwood mulch into the bottom, so she does not get hurt. she likes to hide behind the plant on the bottom for a while then, and starts climbing up again after a little while
i am very grateful about any suggestions and help i can get!
thanks
nadine
