Outdoor Chameleon Keeping 2024

Spring is finally here! Let's see those outdoor keeping plans for 2024 and the progress over the season. This will be my 4th year keeping Cryo outdoors from May 1st until early October in a planter box cage. I was lucky enough to find a massive Mandeville this year that fills out the cage nicely. The clematis on the side of the cage is going crazy as usual!

Yours looks fantastic, love the clematis. I’ve just finished mine for Pedro waiting now on some sunny days and for it all to bush out, a hazel tree sits in the middle and provides most of the branch structure, viburnum to the left of it, butterfly bush(looking a little sad as I dug it up from elsewhere but picking up daily) to the right, small passion flower, (currently around 8inchs as it’s a cutting) bizzy lizzies, begonia and hardy geraniums on the ground, hanging sack in each corner with trailing flowers like nasturtiums etc, at the top i criss crossed some line I use for electric fence, the local cats associate it with that and don’t sit on top

My wife wasn’t keen when I first put the idea to her but in a relationship there has to be compromise and now it’s done and planted up, it growing on her( pun intended) and will only look nicer as the plants take off, caught her the other day with a chair pulled up quietly watching him , so I think it’s a hit.

I was wondering what was going to happen over the last few weeks with 10 degree higher than normal temps and zero rain. Even the tegu will not stay outside in the sun for more than 45min, and normally he sun baths for hours.

Ya I usually put him back inside when air temp is over 90. Hopefully we stay in the 80s for a while.
