Pancur and Reptaid questions

1st off my chams seem fine. But after reading so much on these forums of WC's I am paranoid and do not want to drop hundreds at the vet for fecals as the chams seem healthy. I ordered some Pancur and Reptaid from LLL and should be getting it in a few days. I have a WC Mt. Meru Jackson and a WC Rudis. I recently lost a Senegal having no idea if he was sick or not as I did not see any signs, but I want to be safe about it. I was wondering if it is safe to use these meds if they do not have any worms or parasites? And if it is how much do I use on these small chams and how often and for how long? How do I give it to them. Put it on there food? Any info would be appreciated.

all the instructions come with the reptaid (thats the only one i've used)
use for 10 days (try to do it everyday at the same time) and it has a chart for how many ml for how many grams your cham weights (and pay attention .05 is not .5 on the included syringe) you take a 2 day break then you can start another 10 day cycle ( thats what i understood from the directions anyway). the syringe that comes with it has a needle, or you can take it off. its to inject into bugs right before feeding, or you can open the chams mouth with a rubber spatual and use the syringe w/o a needle to get the stuff down their throat (thats the method i used). From what i have heard and read you can use reptaid with or w/o any symptoms. it is supposed to increase their appetite as well. i used it as a last resort "might as well give it a shot" thing. personally had no luck...

best of luck to you!

I've used Reptaid for WCs that I get in........and it gets rid of the parasites (in 85%)......u can ask AJA......she had fecals done and her melleri that she got from me was clean.....other problems though.....

I then use panacur....."just in case"

Panacur will only kill certain parasites and if you don't run a fecal you won't know what, if any parasites your chameleon has.

I have a nice microscope and I bought a book on parasites to check my wc's. I try to avoid any types of vet visits as well. Pancure and reptaid can help

I have to take my dog in soon for her yearly shot, so I will ask what it will cost for a fecal, but I don't even know if they ever even do Chams. So I am trying to be safe with my new chams, but I don't want to drop more money on a vet visit than what I paid for them if they "look" and act healthy. And the two WC's have such small feces that it's hard to tell if they "look" normal or not.

I don't think you can buy Reptaid at LLL.... you can buy repti-aid though..... Two different things.

LLLreptile is a Reptaid dealer. They purchase it from us and have sold quite a bit of it off their website. Here is the link to most of the current dealers.

We use Reptaid on our WCs when we get them in. But we do fecals, too. I strongly recommend you get fecal exams done.

OK so I just got the stuff today. In the instructions it says not recommended for gravid females. I have a Gravid WC Rudis female. So I shouldn't use it? And I do not have a scale, so what would you guys say the average weight of a small cham like the Mt Meru Jackson and Rudis are? And didn't you guys at Northwest just get some Mt Meru's in? I think I got them from the same place you did. Just wondering if yours were clean from parasites?

Fecals are actually quite inexpensive. Its a good idea to get this done. You'll know what if anything exists, and thus know what the appropriate treatment would be. And the cost of treating parasites increases the longer the problem exists.
