Panther cham Growth Rate

I've had my cham for 3 weeks should I have noticed a drastic difference in size?

He's only shed once since I got him and that was 3 days ago. Ive noticed his colors are starting to come in a little. He was born on July 11th, I just feel like hes small for his age. I have a steady supply of crickets for him during the day and take them out at night but they are kind of small 1/4.

I just want to make sure hes growing normal.

heres a pic that was taken a little over a week ago- (the distance from my index finger knuckle to my pinkie knuckle is 3 1/2 inches) for size reference.

I see color coming in, dont worry it will happen one day and you will ask yourself "when did he color up so nice!"

Yeah, at this age I think they are growing alot, but we see them all the time, so it might not be as noticable. Seems my youngest always looks the same, and then Saturday I looked at him and he was way bigger, over nite.

enjoy this baby stage, cause it doesnt last long

I bought two ambanja babies one three and one four weeks old, one male and one female-unrelated from the same person, described to me as "The father of these was WC, so can't help you there" when I inquired what the parents looked like. They are six months old now and the female is WAY bigger than the male. I just recently had the "light bulb" come on and realize Dave is a female and Ramsey is a male! Ramsey has the most beautiful colors and has that hemipenile bulge (hard to notice). I also read that female have red coloring in their interstitial skin of the gular pouch and males have blue. Dave is all red and Ramsey is a VERY intense blue with red striping. Dave is almost always a pink/cream color with a little bit of (GASP-so excited) PURPLE markings when in repose. Ramsey is a beautiful Teal color with lots of white markings. I am soooo excited about these two. Oh, dern we were talking about growth rate. Anywho; Dave the female is eating large crickets now and Ramsey the male is still eating the little guys. Wonder why he is so much smaller than she? They grew up in the exact same conditions. Does over supplimenting (dusting with vits and D3/Cal) cause mini chams? lol I read somewhere what causes undersized Chams, but can't remember what it was and not ready to re-comb through the plethora of books... :)

What a little cutie! Buy him some worms. Small silks or horns will get him growing. He needs more than just crickets. They normally shed about once a month.

Just like people, they grow at different rates. I have a male and female veiled that are both about 6 months old, but my female is more than twice the size of the male. They are both very healthy though.

Your cham is a cute little guy :)

I got mine at 3 weeks(7 weeks now) and I feel like he has barely grown and I have not seen him shed yet. He is still on fruit flies because he is so tiny. I dust them with calcium a few times a week and a multivitamin once a week. He will hand feed as well and I try to make sure he gets at least 4 from my hand a day. An dthen I let him free range.

You want to see your baby grow fast. Cut off his fruit fly supply. They grow sooo slow on them. Get him on crickets and he will take off. Last year I had a group I started on fruit flys and another group I started on crickets. The difference was so drastic that I never fed another fruit fly again to any of my hatchlings. Another food that makes them take off is Dubia roaches. I start feeding Dubia at around 2 months but you could start earlier.
Good luck. Throw those fruit flys out.

What do you feed your crickets?

I can't get him to eat the crickets hardly. He puffs up at them.
