Panther Chameleon has dull nails

Hi! Just bought my panther chameleon off of someone who breeds. He claims him to be 1 year and 6 months old. Can someone confirm his age to me. Also, his nails are very dull, it seems he cant climb well on my arm or even my shirt without slipping its pretty sad. Just wondering if old age causes that and the guy lied to me or if something else caused the dull nails.

not as strong as my two year old veiled thats for sure. but the grip is still there not that strong imo
Does he get out much? Of course not... you just got him! 🤪

I'm guessing the reason mine has such a strong grip is that he gets out twice a week to climb around on the plant table for a few hours.

You can not determine age by looking at them. It is very possible that he is not the age they said. But dull nails can happen also when they are in a cage that they are constantly trying to screen climb. The tips can get caught and break off or even break the entire nail.

I will say grip is different between a veiled and a Panther. IME Panthers while they have a noticeable grip it is not the same strength that a veiled will have.
