Hi I've had my panther chameleon since he was a month old or a few weeks old he's about a year and a half now everything seems to be normal with him I spend a lot of time with him so I know how he usually acts and I've noticed that he's been opening his mouth very fast lately he has always opened his mouth before whenever he was shedding or angry from me invading his personal space cleaning cage, etc but lately it's been lightning fast the fastest I've seen him go ever I just wanted to know if other panther chameleon owners noticed this as well. Also prior to this he had like hiccups or something where his throat kept coming in nout really fast like he was trying to threaten something but he wasn't it was like he couldn't control it

Could just be him stretching out his throat and jaw. The whole "hiccup" thing I've seen a few of my chams do, it isn't something to be concerned about (unless of course he does not fix his breathing within a reasonable time period, then there may be cause for concern. Sometimes chams will yawn, but you say its fast. Are there any other abnormalities that you've noticed? Is he eating, drinking, resting, ect.?

Could be several reasons from what I've gathered.
He could be trying to regulate heat , drink or be territorial

I've seen my panther leave his mouth open while basking, and also a few times when he wants out he has crawled up the front of the cage , and shakes back and fourth with his mouth open as well, super weird lol

Yeah everything is normal with him he's eating and drinking fine earlier today I noticed he was shedding so I sprayed him indirectly letting the mist fall on top of him with this spray I have to help him with shedding I normally do this to help and he usually doesn't mind but today he moved his head pretty fast back and forth like if it was bothering him I never seen him act like that and it kinda reminds me of when he opens and shuts his mouth really fast

He probably was annoyed with the spray. I find the every time my misting system goes off, my panther gets very angry with it and will get away from it as quickly as possible while gaping his mouth. The spray is cool, and chameleons prefer to stay on the warmer side.

Haha, my senior Allegro figured out a few years back that he's bigger than the nozzles so he always attempts to make them stop spraying by threatening them:D
