Can anyone tell me how long panthers take to copulate? My sambava was showing receptive colors so I introduced the bobble head male. She submitted and he mounted for about a minute then she started to gape so I removed him right away. Each day since I have showed him to her and she gapes and shows off gravid coloration. Any ideas?

okay thanks for the message. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I didnt quote you right, but keep watching her and put down your laying bin, if it has been a month she could lay eggs soon. As mentioned above it may only take a minute.

well was he just getting on top or was he in her? (sorry dont mean to be graphic) I know my guy takes prolly about 5 minutes to get in and then i watch over them from a far but i give him a good 30-45 on them doing their thing before i encourage them to separate.

Well, I really cant say I saw anything go into her. It all happened so quick, she was showing nice pink colors and then she let him mount her, then suddenly she started gapping so I thought they might get into a fight. So I removed him quickly, he was only on her for a minute. Now about 30 days has past and each day I have tried to introduce him and she opens her mouth and shows her gravid colors. She is fat and plump and has gained weight consistantly. She hasnt lost her appetite either, I will add the laying bin to be safe. I have not noticed her acting strange or pacing around the bottom, but better safe than sorry.

Okay it was 35 days since my girl had only a minute w my male. I put the laying bin in the enclosue and started to noticed the weak girl stop eating. Late afternoon she was in the bin limp. By lights out she got on the plant in the bin and slept. Then today she went back to bask high in the vines, and she is not roaming like usual. I do not let her see me observe by keeping a visual barrier and by keeping a video monitor. I am excited and can't wait to see how she does. Keep your fingers crossed. This stuff always makes me paranoid she is 14 months and this is her first clutch. These are smart animals so she should figure it out.

You said..."the weak girl stop eating" AND "Late afternoon she was in the bin limp"....what do you mean "weak" and "limp"? She did no digging? How long have you had the bin in there?

Well I mean weak because she is about to lay eggs and that is hard on a poor girl. Earlier she was just laying in the bin. Then all day just sitting her perch. She eat nothing. Now she some how got energy to dig some test holes. Hopefully by morning she lays them, and the stress can be over and the wait can begin.
