I am working on setting up an adult sized enclosure for when my panther is big enough. Any tips on getting more light to the bottom or is it OK for it to be fairly dark? I have an umbrella plant and a pothos that will be going in there on two different height stands as well.

In the picture it is in front of a window but that is only during setup because his small cage is in the final resting place.

I have two 18" strips. One with a standard plant grow bulb and the other with a reptisun 5.0 and I also have a daylight basking lamp.

It does not show up well in the picture but the bottom of the cage is fairly dark.

I use a 60 watt basking light in all my cages. You basically just need to check the temps of the basking area and go from there with what watt bulb you need. You can get a true white or one of the full spectrum house bulbs that might add more light, but I think everything looks good.

On the fixtures, is the bulb inside with a plastic cover? I can't see it that well, but we had one similar and it had a plastic plate you unscrewed to put the bulb in then put it back on. If so you should take the plastic off because UVB doesn't pass through glass or plastic.

I think once you get the live plants in it should look perfect ⎝⏠⏝⏠⎠
