Sorry I accidentally posted this twice I didn't think the first one posted and I'm not sure how to delete it because this is my first time posting in a forum. So if there is way to delete this one let me know.
I have a 7 month old nosey be panther chameleon that is keeping his left eye closed a lot during the day. He opens his eye when he is moving around or feeding, but when he is sitting still, he will close his left eye and keep his right eye open. I have looked at his left eye, and there is no noticeable difference. It looks just like his right eye. I have ordered some reptaid aid will start giving it to him as soon as I get it in the mail. I know I should be taking this to a vet but I simply cannot afford it now. So that is not an option until I get more money. I have also been dusting his food with calcium powder with d3 and the multivitamin I give him around twice a month also has D3. I recently realized he should not be getting that much d3 so I have been giving him calcium without d3 as of yesterday.
Here is some info on the husbandry:
-7 month old male nosey be panther purchased about 5 months ago from lll reptiles at the reptile show
-I only handle him only when I need to which would be about once a week to check his weight or when I am doing something with his cage and need to move him. I know handling him a lot is stressful to him.
-I feed him a wide variety of insects including crickets, mealworms, waxworms, superworms, and dubia roaches. I have food constantly available to him in a feeding cup. He has been eating less food lately. He used to eat around 10 small mealworms or crickets a day. Now he doesn't really care for crickets anymore and he eats about 1 large superworm a day with maybe a couple of crickets or smaller worms. I feed the insects calcium enriched food and I dust the food once right after I buy it. The vitamin powder I use is reptivite and I already discussed the calcium powder situation.
-I use a dripper twice a day once in the morning around 9 and when I get home from work around 5 I also mist the cage twice a day. I see him drink at least once from the dripper every day.
-His feces are fine and look healthy urinate is white he had his feces tested for parasites when he was about 3 months old and everything came back fine.
-His cage is a 16x16x36 inch screen cage. He is starting to outgrow it and a Im planning on getting a bigger one soon.
-Lighting is on about 12 to 13 hours a day. I use a reptisun 5.0 and a 50 watt basking bulb
-Temperature fluctuates from around 70 to 80 with a basking spot of 80 to 90. The temperature drops to around 60 to 70 at night. It just depends on what the temperature outside. I live in Phoenix and it is starting to get hotter thats why the temperature ranges. I don't use a heater and I haven't started the ac yet. So right now the temperature fluctuates with the weather.
-humidity moves from 40% to 60% but is usually around 50%most of the time
-For plants I use pathos and some other live plant I got from the pet store. I also have some fake leaves and vines.
-His cage is in my closet on a dresser about 3 and a half feet from the ground. The closet has two sliding doors and his side of the closet is always left open unless there are people hanging out in my room. For the most part there is not a lot of traffic around his cage. The closet only goes back like two feet and his cage is right in the back corner so two sides of the cage are next to a wall. If this sounds like there is not enough circulation let me know.
If you have any other questions let me know. I try to do everything I can for my chameleon. I have done a bunch of research (as one should before getting any pet). I am always trying to learn more and see what I can better do to keep my chameleon healthy. I have been keeping chameleons for about a year.
