Well after two and a half days underground my ambilobe panther cham laid 3 eggs. This is her first clutch but i was expecting more eggs than that. the eggs look healthy and she is 13 months old, a nice size and very healthy. Just wondering if this is normal?
Thanks for the advice- she covered the hole over and didnt go back to the laying bucket all day yesterday. i mistakenly excavated the eggs and placed them in the incubation medium and returened the pot... i hope this doesnt have a negative effect. She was underground for 2 days and i was worried with no food or water there would be a problem- i just assumed once she came out and covered the whole she was complete.. i had no way of knowing what she deposited she didnt get very big/puffy when gravid and she looked a little thinner when she came out
They sometimes can be very sneaky about where they place them in the hole. Make sure you checked about a 4-5 inch area around where she dug the hole. Sometime they dig to the bottom of the bin and then go horizontal for a ways. Although I am sure u checked everywhere Give her some time, like laurie said they do enjoy driving us crazy. Some females are very easy and smooth others are a pain.
Thank you... I am just nervous because this is my first time and do not want to jepordize her health. Id like to have a nice clutch of fertile eggs but i'd much rather keep my cham happy and healthy
If more than a couple days go by and she doesnt return to lay the rest of her eggs (assuming she has more to lay) you will want to take her to the vet.
