My 6 month old panther hasnt ate in like 3 days. He is 6 months old and very small for his age, so he needs his food to grow. I tried to change his diet up and put mealworms but he just walks away. I tried to do cup feeding the tongs and hunting and he wont even look.

any advice?

can you fill out the ask for help form in the health section? click on forum and the health clinic and you will find the form there.

since he is small, make sure his food is small for him to eat, too big will cause him to not be interested

to fill him up i say crix, silkworms, and hornworms would do the trick lol

ya ill try smaller crix. ive been using the 3/4" because that is what my 8 month size adult sambava eats. The reason why I dont buy the small ones is because they die in like 2 days and they get out of the corners of the cage and die in the frame. Thank God they dont get in the house.

he is small for 6 months and I think those crickets would be too big. I would be feeding more like 1/4 inch. that is just my opinion. But then again, you said he will not touch the mealworms either. how long have you had him?

you are right and ya he looks at the mealworms funny, so he must have never seen them at kammers.

the problem with the 1/4 is that they die in 2 days but i have an idea, ill stop going to petco and buy them online and see what happens. i have him for 3 months now. i just bought 1/2 crix now because they were out of 1/4, and when i get 1/4 they always come in as small pinheads so i think 1/2 will be just perfect. Is there a way for the small crix to stop dying?

Also, i have the 3/4 and the 1/4 to 1/2 in the same crix tank should i put the 2 sizes in differents tanks??

I am not the one to talk to about crickets! Have not kept them on a daily basis for quite some time as my cham hates them. I just bought 25 the other day to try once again to get him to eat them, but no way! So I will set free in the yard for the anoles to feast on! I never had a problem with them dying. What are you keeping them in? Not sure about mixing the sizes either as I am not sure if they are little canibals with one another!! lol

i sound dumb but i dont know what that is. where do i get them and how much do they go for? and how many do i feed a small late bloomer 6 month old?

Dubias are cockroaches.
You can get them from some of our site sponsors. I know mulberryfarms.com sells them. I dont remember pricing, but i think 25 bugs were like 10 bucks, but dont quote me on it. Im sure other people have access to more of them.

If he will eat them, then let him eat as many as he can. Dubia roaches can be daily feeder bugs, a staple food, like crickets.

Are you really sure hes 6 months old?

My panther is 6 months old to and seems a little small for his age. Mine wasn't eating a lot of crickets for the past couple months I was wondering what was wrong, he would look in the cricket cup eat like 1-2 then walk away, he was eating 3-4 every other day so I constantly gave him horworms just to get him by. I was worried about his weight and size so recently I switched the gutload and made a cricket trap, what I did was cut out a Gatorade bottle and put screen on the inside so the crickets could crawl up it. He can see them from his basking spot so now he sees them moving and eats around 15-20 a day now. I'm just worried if the mass he didn't gain in the past months will be a problem.

Here's where I got the idea from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1acx7nkCLg&list=UUCQNSytOdLMf-ZF97X_CG6g&index=4&feature=plcp

Its sdheli420's cricket trap and so far its working very well for me, wish I made one way sooner.

ill try to build that tomorrow or friday

Wow, really like this gatorade bottle idea. I tried something *like* this, but he couldn't see the crickets, so w/the piece of screen for them to crawl on, maybe this will be the answer to my light eater....Thanks for sharing:D!
