Hey one of my panthers is being really fussy on crickets, he won't eat them at all anymore but he'll eat any kind of worm I feed him, I mostly feed butter worms and silkworms, sometimes hornworms, im just wondering if it's OK to keep him on a worm only diet as long as I continue to gut load and dust the worms

I've heard panthers are prone to worm addictions! I have nothing helpful. Someone will chime in :)

Jethro came to me with a worm treat habit for every Friday. And I'll be darned, every Friday he stares at his cup waiting for his worm treats : )

Maybe try dubia roaches. If that doesn't work than I would research into what worm is best as staple. I believe it is a silkworm. Hornworms are really good for hydration. Butter worms are extremely high in fat and super worms can give problems with impaction because if the hard shell. Hope this helps...

Oh and it is really possible that he is a worm addict. You might want to try only offering him crickets/dubia. He will eat them when he gets hungry. :)

Thanks for the advice! Yeah he definitely is an addict lol, he'll take worms instantly as I put them in his terrarium, but crickets have to be left in a feeder cup for a few days until he'll take them and even then he doesn't always. I've been doing mostly silk worms as I have heard butter worms are fatty before, but I try to give him as much free range time as I can so he can get his exercise!

hey, I think someone recently had posted something about their chameleon only eating certain foods. he wouldn't eat any crickets. A lot of people said to just keep giving him crickets. If he is healthy (which im assuming he is) he will eventually have to get hungry and eat. Maybe switch up your gut load for your crickets also if you haven't tried that.

Anyways, good luck with your chameleon on strike :D

You can try blue bottle flies too nick barta has a write up on them. Put them in the fridge for a minute or two and then dust em. Most chams can't resist the flies. But try to mix it up. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say your boy is entering adulthood? As boys get Older they're eating slows. They don't need the energy for eggs like females and aren't growing as much. So that's when you usually run into the hunger strikes. Sandra has some great gutloading. Recipes. Check em out. What ever you feed moderation in any one feeder is key. Try to spread it out.
