Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Male Ambilobe, just under 7 months. Been in my care since Jun 2nd of this year.
Handling - Minimally. He's still wary of my hand and I haven't made any attempts to handle him since moving him into his adult cage at the beginning of the month.
Feeding - Normally feeding crickets 10-12 medium a day, though he's eating these less. Also feed super worms and just tried a couple silk worms. I'm afraid he might have become a bit addicted to supers since he doesn't show interest in much else. Dusting with calcium without D3 daily, vitamin + D3 once a week with crickets (I know it says 2x a month, but I fear he doesn't get all the food that's dusted this way so just to make sure I do it weekly.) Everything is gut loaded mixed greens with cricket crack sprinkled on it.
Supplements - (See Above)
Watering - Mistking mister set to go off at 7am for 3 mins, 10 am for 2 mins, 1pm for 1 minute, 4pm for 1 minute, and 7pm for 2 minutes. Rain nozzle configuration over large pathos in the back of the cage. I do see him drink occasionally and he will also sometimes take water from a spray bottle.
Fecal Description - Hasn't pooped for 2 days, but last I checked it seemed fairly normal. Slight bit of orange just at the end of the urate where it connects to the feces, but minimal.
History - Moved into adult cage 2x2x4 about 3 or so weeks ago.

Cage Info:
Cage Type - 2x2x4 dragonstrand
Lighting - T5 6% Arcadia lighting plus incandescent basking light.
Temperature - Basking is around 90-ish, though a bit hotter on really hot days. Cage floor and ambient is around 78-80, though this varies depending on weather. We have an air conditioner cooling the apartment on especially hot days.
Humidity - Humidity is roughly 50-70% depending on mistings and weather. Analogue probe half way up the cage and digital probe just outside the cage measuring ambient humidity (though this seems way off because it's reading the humidity around 18 percent all the time when the base humidity outside is over 60, according to weather reports.
Plants - Two pothos, two bromeliads, washed and potted with organic, fertilizer free soil.
Placement - Cage is located in living room, away from window. It is on a table that lifts it so the basking spot is above eye level. Generally low traffic as it is just me and my girlfriend living here and I'm out most of the day.
Location - Boston, MA

Current problem:

Jasper seems to be opening his mouth and yawning every once in a while. I don't hear any labored breathing, and his mouth and nostrils look clean when he does it. I normally would dismiss this as signs of an incoming shed, but he shed roughly a week and a half ago, possibly 2 weeks ago. He also seems to be hiding in the leaves of the pathos in the back of the cage a lot during the day, which worries me since I imagine he needs to be getting under that UVB light more...

Also, and I don't know if this is because I spoiled him with super worms, he doesn't show much interest in crickets anymore. I got him some silk worms, but he's only taken about 3 of those so far. I'm working on getting some dubias since he's really enjoyed those in the past.

Attached are pics of him yawning and a front shot of my enclosure. Let me know what you guys think... Thanks much!

I know that some reptiles open their mouths when it is the "perfect" temperature to them in order to release any excess heat to retain the temperature. But honestly it could be a variety of things.

They DO yawn, but it's a open, yawn, and close thing. If he's constantly holding his mouth open just a little bit, he's a little too warm.

During this time of the year, I typically turn my basking lights down some because it's so hot right now. Get a laser gun thermometer (they are cheap) and temp him if he's under his basking light. My panther males aren't any hotter than 87-88 degrees. My one seems to like being on the warmer side but my other will let me know by hanging out on his bottom branches, and he normally lounges on his ladder most of his day.

Thanks for the advice, folks. Consensus was around heat, so I put a lower wattage bulb in the basking spot and he's already doing it less and coming out from the shade a bit more.

I'll keep y'all updated if anything changes again.

For what it's worth, I bought a fixture with a dimmer switch for my basking bulb (not much more than the std ones). It has become very convenient to simply adjust the output of a higher watt bulb than buy different bulbs and move the lamp closer/further from the enclosure. I'm pretty sure it's saved me money from buying different bulbs as I worked through my trial and error.
Hope that helps!
