does anyone keep 2 males togeather a was thinking about getting 2 baby panthers and was wondering if it would be ok to house them togeather if i had a big enough tank

Its ok to keep them together til the are about 3 to 4 months old then after that they need to be pulled apart and have their own 2x2x4 enclosure, in reality you could have a really big outdoor free range enclosure to house them together but even then sometimes you need a separator of some sort... SO no it is usually better to keep them apart, they are territorial animals and like to have their space...

absolutely not, especially not males.

the size of the enclosure would have to be almost 6' long and 6' tall and 4' wide.

not to mention multiple basking points, trees, and LOTS of coverage, and lets hope they don't encounter each other within the enclosure, you'd probably end up loosing one of em.

+ the stress of them knowing the other is some where within his territory.

Would they really kill each other? I ask because of all the videos I've seen of males fighting it seems to be a very civilized fight, involving pushing and gaping. I've never seen a Cham tear into another one.

Just curious.

Thats how it would start, but one would bully the other into not eating, not drinking, not sleeping...it would drive the other to get sick by constantly harrassing him. And they might end up biting and doing more permanent damage. Wouldn't risk it at all.

I wasn't trying to imply that it is in any way healthy or OK for them to be housed together. The long term stress will definitely kill one of them.

I was just saying I've never seen two males go at it tooth to claw. Granted my experience is limited.

Yes, they will fight, as the videos show. In the wild, sure they fight. The loser walks away to another tree.
If kept in the same cage, the dominate male will stress the weaker one(if he doesn't cause him to die from injuries). The weaker one has nowhere to go.

The "tank" comment bothers me a little bit, hopefully your referring to just an enclosure in general, but do not keep these types of chameleons, or most any for that matter in any type of glass enclosure.

am getting a 24x24x48 mesh screen cage just tring to decide what type of panther to get a really likt the true blue nosy be

If they don't kill each other physically, they will eventually stress each other out to the point of death. No visual contact as adults. My females won't even put up with each other. The only ones that I have successfully kept in a group are pygmies.

CORRECTION: Glass is often not the best choice. BUT depending where one lives, relative humidity, temperature swing, that sort of thing, sometimes Glass or other solid wall construction makes for the best enclosure material.
An all screen cage where I live would be (and I know cuz I've tried it) a big mistake.

Yes, they would prollty end up killing one another.... NOT so much panthers... I mean I wouldn't house them together because it could actually happen. But I think you would most certainly see this with veileds. when my two males veileds see eachother they will stop at nothing to try and hurt eachother. it is like night and day with males... happy fine one second... then they see another male and its KILL KILL KILL!
