Parsons growth?

Not that I have any issue with anything that was said. Maybe I just don't see it in this case. Normally I agree, some threads get derailed too much when there is good info to be discussed still. My fault if I was a little insensitive and got off subject though, didn't mean to offend anyone. I most definitely heard you on it and am on the F petco/petsmart team haha

OCK wasn't talking about too many social posts, he was complaining about too much socializing and BSing in serious posts.

He was saying the forum as a whole has degraded into a social hour, and real info and real help was getting lost in that atmosphere.

You can read his statements in the Petco thread. :).

In the short time I have been back, I can't say I disagree with him TBH. There needs to be a balance, and it seems pretty lopsided as of late.

I don't disagree, but i think people need to lighten up a little. Call it out when we see it, I have, but otherwise just go about the threads that interest us.

I really think the thing that keeps him and others away is the endless new owners making the same mistakes new people were 10 years ago. It wears people down.

Agreed, I also think it's the attitude of a lot of new people. The *just bought a cheap cham from Petco crowd* often have a different, sometimes entitled and rude, attitude that the, *I humbly researched for months/years before I bought a $500-$1000+ animal crowd* has

Idk if this helps or if you already read this maybe it will help others. Why not research more on parsonii while the child is asleep lol I just thought the growth chart was helpful

Skimmed through it, no way I can read that until these little monsters go to sleep lol. I looked through, it seems his brumation isn't as deep as mine considering his still ate about once a week. Mine went months and months lol. Thanks for posting, I'll have to take a better look later!

I made the thread for a reason... for people to share what they might know on the subject. The natural parsonii brumation I'm giving seems to be closer to what it would be in their natural habitat than what one would find in cali(not that there's any problem keeping them that way in cali, I have no clue).

Look at those high/lows averages! 40s for months meaning the highlands probably get to the 30s fairly often as well https://www.nathab.com/know-before-you-go/african-safaris/madagascar/weather-climate/

This was the only other thing I could find but as always they just skinned the facts sorry not a lot of good research out there

Hi!
Ok, here’s my take on Parson’s growth...

I’ll start by saying we don’t have enough information about Parson’s in the wild to know exactly what they go through seasonally. From my experience in Madagascar and talking to guides I know that there are definitely seasonal changes that effect chameleons. These changes come in the form of cool dry periods that can last months. Perhaps during these times food supplies are also greatly diminished. I’ve had conversations with guides in which they state that they don’t even see them during the winter months.

I personally prefer to keep my chameleons on a seasonal schedule. I don’t think it’s necessary and if you keep your Parson’s warm year round and feed it a lot, it will get big. Will it breed? Probably.

Just the short time I have been an active member I have definitely noticed this problem lol. Super quick to be defensive and not wanting to take advice to help. I thought I “ did tons of research” when I had my first Cham and he passed 5 months after having him. After that I found this forum and realized I knew NOTHING about what I was doing.

Thank you Craig for getting back so quickly. Always like to hear from ya

I don't bother with a semi-hibernative state. It would be difficult anyway with the temps here in SoCal.

My animals eat when they feel like it. Shed regularly. Not much more to it than that for me. Atlas is coming up on 6 years old. I'd say his husbandry is fine after six years.

I can care less about anything facebook. All I've been seeing on FB is little fiefdoms where if you don't agree with them they block you. Not worth the time.

We appreciate you here though!

Well oldchamkeeper explained the other day clearly that we were BSing too much in threads and that's why he doesn't come around... which maybe he has a point. This is my only means of social media, and I dont know many people in my life even remotely close to as interested in these topics as myself... so I enjoy coming on to these forums to casually chat with everyone that shares my interests. It's stress relieving(most of the time!) to escape the craziness that is my house with 2 kids in diapers haha
I feel your pain. My friends are tired of hawks and chameleons. 2 boys in diapers makes me feel like im losing my mind. I crave adult conversation. Too many Dr Sues books. This is my only social media and it is nice to chat with people who share the same affliction.
