just saw a few days ago in a pet shop a female veiled of 6 months in very bad shape with mdb, gape mouth, swollen eye, burns and maybe a broken leg but not sure, they keept her in a glass aquarium that was very small, with one branch, and just a very big basking bulb,no uvb!they fed her with canned food almost to expiration date!the price was 150 euros... I meam wtf,who would do such a thing!they told me she was healty, and they didnt let me take a pic!the next day she died!i was so mad,she was dead in her aquarium, they didnt removed her, just let her there..dead!i told them to call the owner of the pet shop and he told me to get the f*uck out and mind my own bussines!
After that i called the autorities and animal protection!now the pet shop is closed! In its place a new pet shop will be opened soon!i hope they will know how to care for a cham ar at least i hope they wont sell any at all!

That's odd that the authorities did something about it. I don't think they would do anything where I am from.

Oh, so there was more to it.

yap they had a lot of problems going on ! but im glad they closed it !!! they dont deserve to have a pet shop in this condition ... they dont care about animals just want to make money ! they had an iguana and a python that died becose of them ,even dogs !

Wow, I just posted about my horrible experience at a pet store today and then I came here to read yours. If I had the money I would open my own pet store and do everything right or not do it at all!

Yeah That's horrible, i have a pet store near me i went to and i was appalled when i saw a chameleon in a glass tank he was laying up agaisnt the side close to death i told the owner that is cruel and stupid of them and i had a lot of people that went there they lost almost half their buisness, and i was even more upset and disturbed when i went to the reptile show in orlando last weekend and a guy was peeling the skin off his chameleon and another lady had 2 chameleons in a glass tank im so glad we bought him and now he wont be in a glass tank anymore!

Well, one day when they meet thier makers hopefully the chameleon can make them go thru the same experience.

There is a belief among certain indigenous cultures in Africa (And for the life of me I can't recall exactly which ones at the moment away from my ethnographies to look it up) that when one goes to the spirit place (dies) they will be asked to answer for all the lives they took human and animal alike. If you take a life through negligence or malice I would think that spirit is still waiting for an answer...

I like this and feel it makes for a good moral guide. If you're going to keep or take a life you had best have a reason you're willing to stand behind! And I feel that keeping good care of an animal to observe and appreciate is a reason a spirit would accept for capture and to eat and sustain is definitely a reason a spirit would accept.

Ultimately I don't know but I will hedge my bets against the possibility of meeting a 20' angry chameleon when it is my turn...

Hmmmm..... yeah but wouldn't that mean we are going to have to answer to a lot of crickets? (Shivers....)

I have a good answer for the crickets, their life went to sustain the chameleons and frogs. Now my cats on the other hand might be in trouble, they are sadistic little killing machines.
