when i was taking my puppy to get her shots i saw a baby cham that looked to be a month old it mad me soo sad i wanted to take her home soo bad but i cant afford another baby cham im a new mom to a veiled cham that is about 3 to 4 months and im new to chams i felt soo bad leaving her there they have no idea how to take care of them :(

Describe the enclosure, maybe they're not doing something the policy says they should and you can give suggestions. Either way you can give suggestions and make sure it's to the pet care manager specifically. Whether they do something or not is up to them, and then you can nicely talk to corporate about it. Be sure you're calm and kind with your suggestions. Trust me they'll take you more seriously.

i dont think they well put them in a bigger home there in a glass aquarium that looks to be 8"x8"x10" its just soo tiny and there only giving them 6 to 5 crickets a day cause thats where i got my baby gurl:) shes happy and healthy getting 10 to 12 crickets a day but i just felt so bad leaving her there and just thinking about ppl who well by her on impulse cause she look "cool"

I have never seen a Petsmart or Petco properly house Chams. It's always amazing that they sell the literature on how to properly care for them but the store policy obviously isn't to follow it. They don't want to hear about it either when you engage the managers on it. You can't save all the mistreated pet store animals because they will just get more and do the same thing.

Chelsie I was noticing in your avatar...what do you have in the bottom of your cage? You chameleon looks to be sitting on top of some kind of dirt?

why were you sad? i dont want to sound like the pet store wasnt bad but i want to know why because you didnt discribe the cham or the habitat, please tell. i would like to hear more

i was sad because i cant bring her home they have one fake plant in there and the cham looks like a month old and its for sale where some one well think it looks cool and buy her not knowing how to take care of her properly and i just dont like seeing animals not takin care of right it bothers me

Wow....... now i understand........ thats so sad. people need to know stuff or they will forever be IDIOTS!

I totally agree. I started a thread on Petco for the same reason not too long ago. You can't stop them. You can only hope to contain them. The sad thing is that PetSmart is a main sponsor of the Reptile Super Show.

I've said this before guys, but not everyone who works there is stupid about the animals. I am asked to speak with people interested in the chameleons whenever I am available and my coworkers have done a good job of learning from my suggestions. If they aren't misting, they aren't following the policy. Inform corporate.

In fact, this attitude has done noticeable harm. People have gone against my suggestions because of the fact that I'm just someone working in a pet store. Yes, people need to do their own research. You shouldn't see an animal in the pet store and buy it that very day, no matter what the people working there tell you.

i agree with u leit that is very true i just wish they would have a bigger aquarium and better lighting i didnt mean to do any harm i was bothered that she was just soo young and a lot of people are idiots now days and buy on impulse

People might buy on impulse from a breeder as well. Buying on impulse in general is bad. As I've said, talk to corporate. Misting is required at least twice a day. None of us like the size of the cages, but we have what corporate provides. If more people speak out, we may get change.
