Phoenix worm loves Silkies

I thought it's interesting to share.
I'm very new to Phoenix worms so i did not know about this.

I always let my silkies free roam for my chameleon to eat once in a while.
So one of the silkies fell into the feeding cup filled with phoenix worms.

To my surprise, the phoenix worms start ganging up on this poor silkworm.
and one of them inject its mouth into the body of the silky and start sucking the gut

Today, the silkie is no longer but a shriveled skin.
Whoaaa.. those phoenix worms are scary!

So moral of the story is: don't mix silkies with Phoenix worms.

eepppp!
Now I know why there is risk of myalisis when a human accidentally ingest phoenix worm..

sorry wrong spelling :D
it's:Myiasis

Myiasis is an animal or human disease caused by parasitic dipterous fly larvae feeding on the host's necrotic or living tissue. Colloquialisms for Myiasis include "fly-strike" and "fly-blown".

poor little silkie :( This is where the word "worm" drives me nuts. none of the feeders that are called worms and are worms at all. The silk and horn "worms" are the larva of (2 different) moths (caterpillars) phoenix "worms" are fblack soldier fly larva (maggots) and super & meal "worms" are beetle larva (grubs). So the fact that the maggots (phoenix) ate your silkie is not surprising as maggots will eat just about anything (actually the black soldier fly - adult - is quite interesting). However, if dodolah (or anyone) accidentally swallowed a phoenix worm or two it would be quickly digested by your stomach and digestive acids unless you have some serious rotting going on in your insides  yuck!!!!!!!!

Who cares it's a stupid silkworm!

if it has a central nervous system it is capable of feeling pain. insects have a CNS. As for being stupid, that's another discussion altogether. The rest of the information was meant to be informative. Didn't mean to be caring or anything
