I have a 9-10 month old male panther ambilobe chameleon. For as long as I can remember he’s been an extremely picky eater. He’s never eaten the proper amount of food, or he is constantly switching between only one feeder he will eat at a time. I’ve taken him to the vet and there wasn’t anything wrong with his labs. He was eating spagna moss for a period of time but I removed all the moss in his cage so it wouldn’t be an issue. He drinks normally but my only concern is his eating. I’ve talked to well known chameleon breeders and they’ve told me to not feed him for a few days to spike his appetite, which worked at first but now we’re back to square one. My vet recommended that if it continued to be a recurring issue to order the critical care carnivore diet and supplement him with that, that way he’s still getting nutrients. I guess my question would be has anyone else dealt with this with there chameleons and what may have been contributing factors. I live in California and we are currently still in winter. I don’t know if he’s going through a brumation period at this time since he will not eat. I’ve tried doing as much research as I possibly can to get to the bottom of it and I feel like I keep reaching dead ends. Currently I don’t have the money to drop at the vet because anytime I walk in I walk out a minimum 1k broker. Any help would be greatly appreciated I don’t want to stress him out and take him to the vet for them to not find anything either!
