Picky eater

I'm trying to diversify my veiled's diet. He's only about 2 months only and he will only eat crickets. I've tried dubia, hornworms, soldier fly larva, and even wax worms for a treat, and he just has no interest in anything but the crickets. I'm going to let some of the soldier flies pupate and see if he's interested in the actual flies. Any other suggestions?

Also, I've got him on the Rapashy LoD supplement but do I need to add in like a multivitamin supplement too?

And when do I switch from feed him as much as he'll eat while he's growing to a handful of crickets a day or every other day?

Hi :) I love soldier flies !My panther and Jacksons love them and they hunt them around the enclosure!

The part about the supplements. I've been told here and by others that the LoD should be used daily. But your guide says twice a month. Is there a reason behind that?

The guide that you are looking at is from Chameleon Academy and suggests using Arcadia Earth pro A daily and then the Repashy calcium with LoD twice monthly. There are several ways to supplement and that is just one. Some use only the calcium with LoD every feeding and nothing else, some use calcium with no d daily, calcium with d every other week alternating with multivitamin every other week. None of these ways are wrong.

I'm going to drop my supplementation video here that walks through the other recommended supplement schedule.

My biggest piece of advice if you're trying to get your cham onto other feeders, is to stop feeding the bug they prefer (in your case, crickets). Sometimes you have to be the bad cop to get your cham to eat other bugs. I like to think of it as trying to feed a kid broccoli, and you keep giving them ice cream first and expecting them to eat their broccoli after. The cham will get hungry enough that they won't be so picky about their bugs.

I have found great success in using Earth-Pro A every feeding and Cal-Mag every 5th feeding. I don't supplement with any additional vitamin D. I have an extremely picky eater myself. He will not touch Dubia's. He would eat only superworms if I let him. Bottom line, if you can hold out feeding him anything until he's hungry enough, he will relent and eat whats being given. They won't starve themselves to death if they are healthy as is.

At 2 months old (unless I'm misreading that?), I wouldn't withhold food. He'll start branching out as he ages - my veiled girl was about 2 and a half months when she started showing interest in bsfl, and only after I held one up until my arm went numb, lol. She just didn't immediately recognize it as food! Same thing happened when I first offered small supers and hornworms. Now she happily gobbles up anything as long as I'm holding it. Crickets are still her favorite, to my chagrin! It's the only thing she comes running for, other than flying insects.
