Pics of "Jungle Gym"

I thought I saw a thread about this at one time or another, but here are some recent pictures of my chams' "jungle gym" in the main cham room. It is really a modified parrot perch and the base of it is where I store some unused blasted grape vine. I also attach a clamp heat lamp to one of the poles of one of the cham racks. As you can see here by my boy, Rex, they love to cruise for hours on this thing. :D

That's pretty nifty! I always admire the parrot "trees" at our pet store - but at ~$350 a shot, I don't admire them that much (and have been too lazy to do a proper do-it-yourself; but maybe you'll inspire me!).

Tell me about it. I got this thing a couple-3 years ago really for the melleri. I got it from a guy here who makes these and other large bird things for pet stores and really didn't want to spend the money for it but figured it was WAY better than what I would/could do. If I had a dime for every time I paid for something just for shere convenience, I would be sipping fruity drinks on a beach somewhere (obviously NOT Lake Michigan...).

I have a scheffela tree in a South facing window that I put Bertie on and she hisses at me when I go to take her off.

Good use of it.......

That is a good use of a parrot perch. I've looked at those a lot too. I'm also bad for buying things out of convenience rather that making them myself. Still you put a lot of effort into the vines and other branches. Do you ever put anything in the little parrot food and water cups I can see? Dubias probably couldn't climb out...Rex does look happy!

Catherine:

Rex loves this thing. AND he has been runnng to the door lately when I walk in the room. Seems like someone has finally figured out that "mom" usually has treats and lets him out into the free range. ;)

Yes, every once in a while, I will put some supers in the cups. Sometimes they find them and sometimes they don't. (I just have to remember to take them out if they don't find them...) It's hilarious when they finally realize they are there. :D

haha cool julie! looks like a chameleon version of those things they build for cats.... what do they call them? cat tree house?

Maybe if I show this to hubby he will decide to design & build one. He likes to feel he is helping me by designing stuff for my chams and I would love something like that to add into my free range area. It looks great.

Thanks, Laurie. One of these days, I'll have to take some "bare bones" pictures for you so you can see what it looks like without all the vines and extra blasted grape vine on top (and covering the base). The base of it comes in handy because just as it would for a bird (as intended), it catches all of the "droppings" left by your cham. Plus, it is on casters so it rolls around very easily if you want to move it. You have to watch those sneaky chams, though. I have one panther who loves to wait until I'm not looking and climb all the way down and hide under it. ;)
