Let's not forget about the beautiful females:

You know, I have a room in my house that was setup entirely for my panthers and other warm loving species. I just sold all of my panthers, except for a few, so I pretty much have an entire room open now for change. In fact, I decided that I am going to make it another montane species room. I went today and bought another portable a/c unit for the room and I have some species in mind that I was going to get.

So, with all that being said, I definitely have the space for some. I have actually talked to Janet about wanting a female from her, but I have been really interested in getting one from a particular pairing that she is still currently working on. So, we will see how it goes. But, I am always interested in breeding to help up the numbers for any species.

More slender and ELEGANT? SOME may take exception to that statement.

Let the games begin!

Elegant: Graceful in form or movement; pleasingly graceful or stylish in movement or manner; graceful and attractive.

They were named "gracilior" differentiating them from the nominate species. Gracilior/graceful as in the graceful subspecies when compared to the nominate. There is reference to them being more slender and graceful in the early scientific literature describing them. Quads were named "four-horned, four-horned" while graciliors were named "four-horned and graceful." Get over it, Bob!

Face it, quads are big chunky pot-bellied couch potatoes! :p

Here are two more gracilior males;

Cato's sibling Goldilocks:

And let's not ignore their finer, more elegant horns! This is a wild-caught male from the February import that I picked up this winter. He's still looking a little rough, but he is finally on the upswing and well enough I can start dealing with his parasite load.

Or their style! The red toe nails are to die for!

Here is the only quad male I have ever seen to rival a gracilior. TianLong has a huge, tall sail fin and a very beautiful face. His horns are really pretty. I adore, absolutely adore this animal.

But, except for TianLong--the quad males can't hold a candle to a gracilior.

And the females? How about this gracilior girl:

But I agree with you, Bob, the female quads are really lovely. I adore my females, this one especially:

Yes, I really like my little trio of hoehnelii. They move very differently than the quads/graciliors with very quick jerky movements. I love their scales and the big star patterns on the females. The male is drop-dead gorgeous with his steely blue color. All three will take food out of my hand even though I have tried to leave them alone and not even look at them. The poor little females look as if they are about to burst. They are doing really well and have since I got them.

Your male quad is very pretty. It is so nice to see a quad that isn't all beaten up and scarred from import. I really hope everyone can have success with them. They are a wonderful species and not all that complicated. I've found them quite forgiving of my errors.

This literally made me laugh out loud!

Well you can send all your short fat horned, big chunky, pot bellied couch potatoes to my house where they will be much better appreciated!

If you get the chance or know somebody with the book: Mountain Dragons by Jan Stipala, you should definitely look through it. It's a coffee table size book with tons of pictures of mostly hoehnelii and jackson
species. Stipala went all the way around and up and down Mt. Kenya and the surrounding mountain ranges photographing chameleons- beautiful book! There are many more color morphs (locales) than I knew about.

I plan on getting that book. I'm just blown away by the colors of the male hoehnelii--there really isn't any green at all in his blue. I'll try to post a good photo of him, but it is hard to

And, sorry, you can't have my under-appreciated quads! They'll stay right here.

Adding to the beautiful female section!!

This is one of Janet's that I thought was absolutely stunning when in this coloration!
