Picture-winged flies

anyone ever have Picture-winged flies end up in their cage ? I just bought a new plant and now have these critters every now and then ... are they harmless ?

How damp is your enclosure? Both the larvae and adults feed on decomposing organic matter, but there has to be some moisture. Otherwise, I believe they are harmless.

not damp at the moment, but the plant was outside for about 3 weeks before bringing it in so they must have laid eggs in the soil then ... they just stay at the top of the cage where the lights are, Ziggy hasn't tried eating them or anything (that I've noticed) thank god!
