Pictures. Senior members help pls.

Update-they can't get it out this time. They have to sedate her. He is consulting with the zoo Atlanta vet first to see if he will come in. They are keeping her until they talk to a few more specialist as well. The waiting is killing me. They sent me home, I'm sitting in my car, I don't want to leave her--but they said they will call once they know for sure what the plan of action is. He said let's not rush the decision yet on her fate. And to weigh all options, and he wants to consult all the herp vets he knows. So that is good I guess. I told him to just get the tongue out of her stomach, even if it means sedating her. I want it out.

Did you go to the vet that I referred you to with all the chameleon experience? With a serious problem like this you need the most experience vet possible.

Ok, so, after getting a "let me call someone else" answer, I turned around and paid the 50 bucks to get Frita out of hock and took her to brad Wilson who is seeing her at 1:30, they just took her in to stabilize her and give fluids. I'm going to hang out in Marietta until then. But Jann is right, I should of used dr.wilson, so now we are here. Well, Frita is in there and I'm out here in my car, again. Just FYI the info on that page is wrong, he moved practices, so all GA Cham owners here is dr brads info: he is on the old Dallas road exit, thank you Jann again!!!!

It's about a 2 hour drive here but my god after the stress and fear and uncertainty I just felt I'll never take a chance again on someone who might be a good a Cham vet.

Hey Posh-
Just wanted to let you know that some of us senior members may not have responded yesterday because we've never seen anything like this. I know that is the case for me.

Sorry to hear about your lizard. Best wishes going your way.

Wow. My god where to start. Well first, Frita is gravid. Full of eggs, they are not ready yet. They should harden and drop down to be laid around Monday of next week. We took several X-rays. The tongue will be saved.

Basically, after her last tongue injury, Frita started forming eggs, which means her body started pulling calcium from her body. Because she was recovering from a tongue issue and calcium deficiency can cause tongue issues this is where we think the problem is possibly stemming from. So we did lots of X-rays (I'll upload them in a few) her bones look great, no mbd, but the eggs are plentiful. Which explains her lack of interest in food yesterday and today. She also had some sort of metal or mineral in her stomach?! Possibly from her egg laying bin. But there was no impactation. So now we go back in 4 days for more X-rays to see where this mineral thing is. Plus check to see if the eggs have dropped. Our main concern is getting through this first clutch.
We are increasing calcium and monitoring these eggs.

My baby is pregnant. :/

Oh I know, it's totally fine, thank you for all your help in the past though and on my beardie. Everyone here is awesome, I know this was some weird stuff.

Oh wow! So it's the calcium...At least you know that's the reason and her tongue will be saved, that's a huge relief!
Poor girl! Good luck with the egg laying!

Zsa, it's a theory. We can't say this will stop, or happen again. But it's a coincidence. So we will treat the tongue, which is sore, increase calcium, and get through this first clutch hopefully with no issues. My little beardie arrived this morning and I'm so exhausted from today all I can do is sit here and stare at him. Lol been a long day. Glad it's over.

I'm glad she's going to be able to keep her tongue. Poor baby, I hope the egg laying is over quick and without complications.

I am so sorry this happened to little Frita! I have been consumed with a new job and school so have not been on here much. I so hope all goes well for you and Frita. Congrats on the new addition. Pictures please when you have a few moments to think!

Melissa, me too. I'm
Brushing up on Jann's blog, making a new laying bin and waiting till it's time. I hope she lays them super easy. I feel prepared. I got my liquid calcium. And I am planting a small plant in her bin (a big garbage can) off to the side.

Staying super positive but I won't lie guys, I'm nervous. It's her first clutch. On top of tongue issues it's a little more scary. But at least the new vet feels confident her tongue will be ok, the clutch will be ok, and she will be ok. He was very very knowledgable and there was pictures of Veiled's on the walls!

Good thoughts for you and Frita both. I'm glad you were able to get her in to a good vet, makes a huge difference. She's a fighter, and so are you. You both will get through it together.

She put herself to bed without issue tonight. In the morning I'm heading to homedepot for play sand to start my new bin. I'm excited to make it for her.

They didn't have to amputate! I was worried about that. Poor little Frita. Hoping you guys get through the rough part okay.

He was very knowledgable. And they had a side just for exotics so they don't get stressed from dogs and cats. Very long day, but worth going to see him. He said her tongue would be fine. I'm so happy we found him. Thank you again!!
