Plague in Madagascar

Be careful going to Madagascar, make sure to keep the weaker looking ones away from the healthier looking ones. So if it spreads it doesn't get to the healthy ones.

Jacksjill said..."This is a disease that affects mammals the reptiles should be fine"...I was more curious about whether they can carry it and pass it on to humans.

It's spread by fleas to humans in it's bubonic form and person to person in its pneumonic form. I can't remember if cats are susceptible to it. I know dogs can get and carry it. I know that prairie dogs and ground squirrels can be reservoirs for it.
I have never hear of it in a reptile.
@kinyonga did you find anything?

Glad to hear there’s been a decrease. I hope it continues to decline. We will be leaving on the 16th of this month and will spend a few days in Milan and then on to Madagascar until the end of the month.
