plant food!!!

hi guys,i have just purchased a umbrella plant for my veiled chameleon,it says that i have to feed the plant but could the plant food be toxic to my cham,just need to know before i put it in the viv,also is it correct to use unfertilized soil??

I use unfertilized soil and then add worm casting. Great source or nutrition and natural.

i cannot find unfertilized soil anywhere, the local reptile shop told me to get a indoor pot plant soil and cover the top with rocks.. is that ok??
