Hello everyone !! It’s been a while since I have posted ! We are going to go get spike a new plant today cause his money tree is unfortunately not doing well in his home. What is a good large filler plant that doesn’t mind the heat lamp, and misting? Our umbrella tree also did not survive. Thank you!!

Here is spike saying thank you

I really like the Pothos it seems to hold the water for a long time and also does quite well inside. The Ficus and Schefflera also do great indoors. The Hibiscus is a favorite of the veileds but needs allot of light so your need to use hibiscus outside or have a couple to rotate from inside to outside for sun. Your plants will need to be washed and rinsed well and replanted before you use them. Use organic soil and buy large river rocks to cover the soil so your cham will not be able to eat the soil. Make sure the rocks are very large so the cham cannot eat the rocks.

If you can find a weeping fig that would fit, that would be nice. Areca palms are great to add cover, but not really for climbing. Dracaenas are quite tolerant, but again, most are for cover and not climbing. Put some pothos on the floor of the enclosure and train it to grow upwards for much larger leaves.

it’s crazy, most of these plants are toxic, but veileds seem unaffected. Dracaena nearly killed my cat, pothos are known toxic for the oxalates, etc. I’d say just pick a plant that doesn’t have any intense toxins(like nightshades) that will thrive indoors. Asparagus fern grows like crazy for me, dracaenas great cover as mentioned, wandering Jew, spider plants, ficus alii(a favorite of mine, I have several 7ft trees that grow in my house).
