Hello everyone !! It’s been a while since I have posted ! We are going to go get spike a new plant today cause his money tree is unfortunately not doing well in his home. What is a good large filler plant that doesn’t mind the heat lamp, and misting? Our umbrella tree also did not survive. Thank you!!

I have a ficus Benjamina, hardy things, been thru a Viv move and still surviving, it was about half the size it is now have to chop it maybe once a month to stop it climbing into the lights.

I do fertilise mine with weak houseplant feed every so often, as found it kept dropping leaves when I didn’t

Be careful of ficus as most are on the toxic list. I personally have had the best luck with monstera or Swiss cheese plants. They have large leaves and sturdy stalks. I have used different plant lights thru the years. I like the one I have now and got a 22” plant lite bulb to fit in my extra 24” hood. Sansi was so bright and gave off a ton of heat I had to hang it from the ceiling. It did ok but one bulb after another burnt out after two years.

Oh wanted to tell you that money trees can loose all or most of the leaves during different times of the year. Take it out and put it in an area that gets lots of sun and it will come back.

I’m just going to had my two cents in here, I don’t think any one mentioned spider plants, there are more for looks and cover, but they are very hardy plants and I have two in my girls enclose! And just to add on, pothos really are the best

As for my center piece i know it’s an umbrella tree, but I currently use an Australian umbrella tree and it works pretty great, I’ve been through a few ups and downs figuring out how much to water it and accidentally breaking off the top of the plant, but it’s still alive and growing! It’s also rather large and takes up a lot of space. My girl also loves to take nibbles out of it every once and while

From one Spike parent to another, Spike loves pothos. Well idk if he loves it. But I've just filled his enclosure with pothos and it's been easy for me to maintain (mostly..) and it provides a lush jungle for him. He climbes the vines now sometimes too.

I never had success keeping Money tree alive long term. I think their water needs are tricky in pots. Sometime it not enough water or too much where it rotted away under my care. :/

I have one in my living room. If I can live in proper Southern California. I would love to plant this outdoors.

Well there are also different kinds of money trees too. Here’s mine that I have had planted in a pot outside for over thirty years. Couldn’t really get it all in the pic but it goes up to the second story windows. Also after twenty years it started giving me seed pods and here are a few I grew from seed. Don’t know if you can pick them out in the window jungle I got going on.
