plants? help please!!!

It depends how you buy them, ficuses normally come a few feet tall and scheffleras can be 6" to 4', so it all depends what your local plant shops have in stock. Try the tropical section of Home Depot and there should be some big umbrella plants (scheffleras) .

Ficus and Schefflera grow to be 6' and taller, but take forever to get there. Most garden stores will have 4-6' trees already grown for around $40. If you hang a pothos from the top of your enclosure the vines can easily grow to be 6' long. I personally think pothos are the must have plant for chameleon keepers. They provide many walkways with their vines and their leaves hold water droplets quite well. They are also very full and vibrant when well taken care of.

how hard are they to take care of pothos

Easiest plant you'll ever own. They can deal with to much water, not enough water, to much light, not enough light, etc.... You'll find them SUPER easy to grow. And like commented before, they're a must for sure.

+1 My local Home Depot and Lowes usually carry scheffleras and ficuses in sizes from 1' to 3' or more. One thing that I like to do is buy a plant stand to set them on inside of the cage. You can get different heights to raise them as much as you need and they help the plants drain from the constant misting as well. The same result can be had by placing them on an upside down pot but not with your extra tall enclosure (which will be awesome for your cham). You could easily find a 2-3' tall stand and place a 3' tall plant on in it to fill out most of your 6' tall cage.

All of my schefflera's have flourished under the standard UV bulb as have the pothos that I have hanging in there and I haven't needed any additional plant lights so far. Not to say they wouldn't make things better, maybe just not absolutely necessary. You'll definitely want to add plant lights if you want to start using flowering plants like orchids or hibiscuses though.
