In the resources section up top there's a plant list. Ficus and pothos being most popular.

Clean all visible parts with warm soapy water and rinse rinse rinse rinse. Once its been rinsed thoroughly rinse it again!!

Remove as mush dirt from the roots as u can rinse them very well and repot in an organic soil.

To further make it safe I just got a reply on my thread about baking the soil in the oven first 350 for a half hour making sure to wet the soil so it doesn't burn.

I don't know about cleaning, but I know that on flchams.com if you scroll down and look on the left hand side, they have a HUGE safe plant list. :)

I'd warn against baking the soil, if soil goes above 180 degrees it can start releasing organic compounds (mainly ammonia). I baked peat moss once because I was having a fungal problem with it, making sure the damp soil never went over 170 degrees, and I guess the edges of the pan must have been a little too warm because I killed over $500 worth of plant cuttings and when I cleaned out the tank later of all the dead plants the whole thing just reeked of ammonia.

This is interesting. I have never had my soil smell like ammoinia after baking. Nor have I killed any of my plants. I suspect there is something in your soil that is causing this.
