Please check my enclosure!

Well I don't have any laying around that are the right size. Both my fixtures are either too small or too big, but they are T5HOs for sure. And thanks for mentioning the splash lenses!!!!!! I was NOT even thinking about that! You just saved me from a dumb, life threatening mistake!

About the spraypaint though, I have a question. Have you ever painted an enclosure with it? I'm getting an aluminum cage and want the screen to stay the way it is, but I don't like the shiney frame. If it were black it would match my room better..

I think much depends on the paint you use and how toxic is is (potentially) even when dried.

Here's what I think....
but if anyone knows more I HOPE the contribute...

I am reasonably sure Krylon Fusion is safe to use.

I would use it.

I say this because I have heard many folks use it on screen cage tops... and some even to paint in and around salt water tanks.

(And you know if it were *that* toxic when dried... it would be the kiss of death to saltwater inverts.)

Also, just doing the frame is not like spraying the inside of an enclosed box cage with it or anything.

And they would have minimal contact with it if it just was the put-side frame.

So, like I said, I would use Krylon fusion to do it if it were my cage.:)

But to be safe, you may want to do a few quick google searches on the subject.

Good luck and post a few pics when done!!
:)

Cheers!

FretFreak13, here is the video that I promised. Looks like I will be buying a second nozzle for my setup as it is getting just over half of the enclosure with the 1. I am going to go back right corner with the 2nd nozzle as the first one if front left corner.

I hope this helps,

If I was going to paint, I would use Krylon Fusion beacuse I painted my tanks with it! lol I have half a can laying around somewhere... Thanks for the input though, I always feel better about decisions if I'm not the only voice saying it haha.

Thanks for the video, Dave! I see exactly what you mean, and I will be doing the same thing as you with the two nozzles. Now, what kind of plumbing do I need for that? Just add another nozzle to the order? It's gotta be a "T" nozzle, right?

Thanks for all your help guys, I really appreciate all the input!

Yes, make sure it is a T Nozzle. I would also add some extra tubing as well just in case you mess up cutting. 10 feet is only $3.50 so I would get that. Or you could do 20 feet to be even more safe, but that is up to you.

Gotcha! Anything else I need?

Also, does anyone have first-hand experiences with the plant list I posted? I checked a few different cham-safe lists...I think ours needs to be updated. lol
