hi
i have posted before my girl is a veiled
she has been trying to lay since last friday 5 days ago dug at least 2 holes and never laid. she filled in first and worked all day yesterday on a new hole but never laid and today she was basking not in he hole at all so i decided to make a big bin
when i open cage to transfer her she first ran down to the current hole and filled it in i guess i scared her and she abandoned it so i took out the box and it empty

i put her in a garbage can with 12 inches of clean organic earth mix with play sand and a small plant and 2 sticks and put her light and heat on top i had dug a starter hole and she went right in it and began to dig

question is how long do i let this go on it's been 5 days and she not eating i know it's normal but do i mist the plants only when she sleeping i don't want to scare her again i am gona put a spy camera in later today to keep watch i don't want her to dehydrate and can't decide when to call it quits and goto vet

I agree that you have been messing with her to much. I would leave her completely alone and don't even allow her to see you at all. Then after a full 24 hours if she doesn't lay take her to the vet. Many of the females die from egg problems and live a shorter life than the males. If you get her to the vet in time a vet can give oxytocin to induce egg laying before she becomes egg bound. Several injections of oxytocin over several days might be needed. If she still doesn’t lay the eggs surgery is the only other alternative. Surgery is very risky but at this point it’s the only choice. If your female is healthy and your husbandry is right she shouldn't become egg-bound unless she has a reproductive system deformity, deformed eggs, etc.

ok i will leave her alone i put a cup with a small hole with ice to drop a little water on the plant and put a web cam to watch so i won't go in till tomorrow or if i see her cover the hole

did she cover the hole after she laid eggs , my female dug hole slept over night in hole but hasn't gone back to the hole or covered hole she dug ,,, she's eating good and moving around ,, I haven't check the bin (its been 5-6 days) I don't want to disturb the hole she dug ,I'm not really worried because she's been eat very good basking and moving around good , sunday I clean housery for both chams and might look in her bin at that time
