Please help- very sick chameleon

If I were you tho, I would also try to identify the problems with your care that are creating these problems. These ailments take a long time to occur

Just look at her limbs so.....she has either had MBD or has MBD. From the picture showing her grabbing her face I would say she has it now. Just my opinion. I can't see that it would hurt her to be given some liquid calcium gluconate even if she is on meds. ...unless the meds she's on say calcium will affect it.

I would email ferret or one of the other vets on here and talk to them about it.

It does look like MBD, does the vet you visited specialize in reptiles? Because it looks like encephalitis can have many of the same effects as MBD so if he is not experience maybe he got them confused? I know MBD can cause them to grab themselves and have seizures, see this article:

Is your UVB a strip light or a CFL, and what wattage is it? Do you ever see her basking under it? Since she was housed with the male for a long time he could have prevented her from basking and may have also hogged the calcium that you did provide. Although you also do need to increase calcium to every feeding as well.

Is she getting UVB currently? The vet can provide a calcium shot but she will also need plenty of UVB to recover. So if she can't move on her own you may need to help her get both natural sunlight and time under a UVB bulb. Depending on the type of UVB bulb, she should be about 7 inches under it. It should also be regulated so she is not under it too long, maybe 10-15 minutes at a time? Once she recovers enough to move on her own, she should be able to regulate it herself.

I thought the same thing so I have been supplementing her with liquid calcium additionally.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, he is one of the few vets in my area that specializes in reptiles. But, he is not my usual vet. I usually see Dr. Ariana Finklestein, who is a member of ARAV, but she was not in her office today and I didn't want to wait another day to get her seen after the feedback I received from the other members. This vet seemed confident that it was encephalitis and not MBD but now I'm questioning his diagnosis. Would you recommend having her seen tomorrow by my normal vet?
When she was in the cage with the boy, the UVB was the tube type. I can't say if my boy hogged the UVB or not. It's possible. They usually tried to stay away from each other so if he was under the UVB she probably wouldn't have been. She now has a ReptiSun 5.0 CFL-type UVB bulb. I have the combo fixture that holds the UVB and heat bulbs right next to each other on top of her cage and I have noticed that she liked to bask under it when she could actually climb.
She is currently getting UVB both from her light and from natural sunlight. I've been putting her cage outside a couple times a day for the past 2 days for about 30 minutes at a time. I'm afraid of leaving her out there for too long though because I'm in South Texas and we're sitting at about 95 degrees. I did not know that I would need to regulate her UVB exposure so thank you for mentioning that, I will definitely be sure to do that. I will also increase my calcium w/o D3 to every day, although at the moment I am supplementing her with 3 drops of liquid calcium every day to try to boost her levels.

If you've had many successes with your usual vet, and feel more confident in going to her, I'd do it. Its good that you dropped everything and took her to the vet, that's what I had to do with my little one.
Just let her know everything the other guy said and that people are telling you it's MBD, because her joints are so rounded.
Taking them into natural sunlight is good because it's just like extra 'vitamins.' But kudos to you big time for taking her in because there are too many people that just don't give two craps about their animals, I see it all the time.
I really hope she gets better! And I'd just call your regular vet first to see what she says/thinks!
