Please help!

I just bought a Veiled Chameleon and was curious how much light they should get during the day? Do i keep the heat lamp on 24/7? or for 12 hours? can someone help. If i do turn of the heat lamp at night do i buy a heat lamp for at night? Please some one help me.

I have kept Veileds on a dusk to dawn dark period when i was raising a batch of babies i bought from a friend. i would have the light kick on at around 7:30a and off at 9:30p and i would set it to the Daylight savings and it is more natural IMO....

He will go to sleep when it gets dark. They tend to just go to sleep whever they are at the time. You don't need any heat/light at night unless it gets really cold in your house. A drop in temp at night plus the darkness actually helps them to sleep better.

Most members have all lights on for 12 hours, and all lights off for 12 hours. My lights go on at 7am, off at 7pm.

timer

you need to buy a timer and have your fluorescent and heat lamp go out at the same time everyday. They get into a sleep schedule. I think going with dusk and dawn is best

12/12 cycle. it doesnt matter when as long as they get 12 hours, if you forget a little more wont hurt, but keep your lights on a timmer.

Thank you for all the help! Just one more question.. should UV light stay on at night?

if you'd like to get crafty to see your chameleon a little better at night, a small blacklight (outside of the cage) or the exo-terra moonlight may be of help. it wont mess up their sleeping cycle, but for the moonlight, you may want to invest in 2, lol i bought one and its not the greatest bulb

After mine have been asleep for a good hour or so the lights in their room wont wake them up. They're sooper heavy sleepers. No need to put any light on at night though. A space heater in the room would be good if your temps drop really low at night though.
