Hi everyone. Please send good thoughts and prayers my way for Ivy. I was gone over the weekend and my roommate was watching her and noticed a prolapse. I took her to the vet today and 6 hours later I was able to take her home. They did an x-ray and ruled out reproductive issues. They treated her with two oral dewormer (fenbendazole/pyrantel) and applied a topical anesthetic to numb the tissue and they pushed the tissue back in with dextrose. They have prescribed me meloxicam/metronidazole because they noticed eggs in a fecal.
Luckily she defecated after they pushed it back in and she didn't prolapse again but they said it could happen again and she may need surgery :/ I am feeling nervous as I am a college student and working to help pay for school and am worried for the cost or surgery and her health. I have had her since early June and love her so much!
Please share any experiences or tips you have. They said everything I am doing for appears to be great, but her old owners didn't take great care of her and didn't know anything about chams so I am worried she may not have been in great health when I got her. Here is a pic of my sweet girl.
