Polyeurethane preferences/results?

Just wondering what people prefer to use as a polyurethane on there wood enclosures? I intended to use Deft Semi-gloss or Minwax Semi-gloss, in multiple coats. What have you used, and how well has it held up to the moisture and UV over the years? Any yellowing? Thanks in advance.

I used a minwax urethane varnish in matte. It's holding up really well. Application is a bit of a pain since the coats have to go on VERY thin to prevent hazing of the varnish. 3 coats at least are needed. Water based is easy, but honestly I would probably use oil based next time.

Cool, Sprayed? Brushed? Sponge brushed? Rag?

I like rags for stain application but not for clear coats. Brush, and be sure to "backbrush" to avoid streaks. The sponges will leave bubbles in the clear coat. Rags apply too thickly and have issues with evenness of application inside corners or in tight spaces. If you spray, be really careful of application thickness because drips will turn white and have to be sanded out.
