Poop, urate, spermplug question...

Ok, I haven't had to ask about this subject for years but my Stanley is aging and I just want to make sure I know what is what... I've never had an issue figuring out " what was what" but " which is which" now???
I recognize the poop,,,, but the yellow and the white are confusing me.. Is it all urate and some is just "older" than the other? Or is the yellow an oldish spermplug???

The yellow is part of the urates more crystalised than the white. How often does he 'go'? My Tommy used to only go every 10 days or so and always had some yellow crystal part to his urate despite drinking every day. Maybe Stanley is starting to have kidney problems now he's getting older, but I don't know how vets can test kidney function other than via a blood test.

I agree with what was said above. Since Stanley is getting older it's important to get him a good check up, bloodwork and x-ray with a qualified chameleon vet so you can keep on top of the old age problems that they get.

He hasn't been going as often as I'd like to see him go but my 2 other guys aren't either... They don't seem to be crazy about going in their cages... I took everyone out a couple of days ago in the sunlight and they all three went..

Thank you both for the vet advice,,, I guess it's time to make us a geriatric appointment....
What specifically should I ask to have done/checked?

Thanks,,, lisa

Sunshine would always guarantee a poop from my girly chams when I had them. Not so easy to get some sun during winter though! I would probably take a sample with me so the vet can see and express your concern of kidney problems. Does he drink well? My dear old Tommy used to drink every day yet still had orange bits to his urate because he held it inside him for so long between poopings!

I agree,, warm sunshine especially combined with a warm shower usually "produces"!
He is a "secret drinker" so it's super hard to monitor how much he actually consumes.. I've been offering him strawberry slices pretty much daily, to help to add to his fluid intake...
I'll either take a specimen with me or take one back when he presents me with one..
Thanks

Even if the vet can't do a fecal on an old poop, I would take that one along so the vet can see what it looks like. Take a fresh poop to if you can get one for a fecal. If you have good vet.....hopefully there's one in Memphis, I would also request bloodwork and x-rays. You can get so much important information from those. Ask if you can have a copy of the bloodwork and x-rays and post them here and get a second opinion form one of the vets on the forums.
