Possible eggbound veiled??

I have a female veiled she is 6 months old. I noticed recently she has been cranky (not allowing me to hold her), her color is darker, and she has been eating less. About 3 days ago I found her in the bottom of her cage, which is when it hit me she must need to lay infertile eggs. So I got the giant flower pot and play sand put in her cage. I have seen her walk around on it but no scratching. She is wondering all over her cage and tries to get out but she is not using her lay bin! Should I cover her cage? I'm worried she will become eggbound! This is my first experience with her laying eggs so maybe I'm paranoid? HELP!

Yes, cover her cage. They need complete privacy to lay. It's also possible that she could be receptive. They also get very active when receptive. I'm attaching my egg laying/laying bin blog for you below and a video on how to make a laying bin.

The lay bin has been in her cage for 2 days. She walks on it but has not tred to dig. I'll try to cover her cage for now. Thank you.
