Possible gravid Jackson cham

Me and my boyfriend bought a female Jackson chameleon on Saturday. The guy we bought her from said she was pregnant. The first day we got her she ate plenty and drank plenty now she has slowed down eating maybe two crickets in the last two days and I don't really see her drink. Last night she was wondering the cage trying to get to the bottom. We are new to this so we don't know if this is normal or if she is truelly pregnant. Any suggestions?

Sounds like she might be about to(if she is gravid). My jackson's had some a day ago, but only one is living. Is she really big in the belly region? Is this your first chameleon? Jackson's can be kind of tricky for first timers, If you aren't consistent in your care.

We have two Senegal Cham. Her belly is bigger than some I have seen. But is it normal for her to stop eating? And how do I know for sure if she is pregnant ?

filling out the help form and posting pics would get you more viable responses. there is no reason for a healthy xanth (even a gravid one) to be wandering the bottom of the cage , unless it is hungry or about to give birth, even then healthy xanths rarely venture to the bottom of the cage, unless they have been conditioned to do so by feeding practices. my hunch is that it isnt either one of those scenarios. gravid xanths have been discussed a lot lately in various threads. some of the answers you seek may already be available in one of them. https://www.chameleonforums.com/need-help-chameleon-birth-31377/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/baby-jackson-chameleon-health-problems-31825/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/jacksons-babies-30970/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/breeding-jackson-chameleons-35234/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/jacksons-32207/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/unexpected-birthing-35920/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/moment-truth-36016/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/expect-babies-soon-36311/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/maybe-gravid-female-jackson-39025/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/sleeping-jackson-38126/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/getting-my-new-jackson-breeding-pair-38522/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/brand-new-baby-jackson-chamelions-39496/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/gravid-jacksons-39858/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/will-you-pop-already-40060/ https://www.chameleonforums.com/finally-41111/ either way it would still be to your advantage to fill out the help form.

Yes. If they are gravid they will generally stop eating completely a few days before they have their eggs/babies.

This is her. In this picture she is under her basking spot so she is lighter than normal. She normally is a darker color with a light pattern. We don't have a scale so we do not know her weight.

wild guess ?

the color rendition of the photo is not that good, but if you are just looking for a wild guess, i would say she is likely gravid. jmo

the problem is, it is hard to get good color rendition using any sort of indoor light or flash, but based on the last picture i would say that she is likely gravid. that being said, i notice that she has been getting her nails stuck in the screen. this is a common problem, but not one that should be taken lightly. losing even a single nail, can potentially cause an infection that can lead to worse problems, and any sort of infection, could cause problems for an upcoming clutch. i also notice that the uppermost part of the cage is fairly devoid of climbing structure. you might want to consider adding more structure to the more open parts of the cage. most arboreal chams, are significantly more at ease, when they are above eye level, so she might be less inclined to cage crawl, if her basking spot was above eye level. if none of those things help, you may want to consider rescreening your cage (fairly easy) with pet screen, my favorite is, super pet screen by st gobain fabrics. most pet screens have a rubbery plastic coating that is less snaggy on the nails. i could send you a swatch if you just want to check it out. jmo
