Pothos deadly or not

I have a pothos in my tank for quite a while now with no issues. I was told by many there a great plant for chams and such, but in doing research with other animals (mainly cats as we are moving next to a busy road sot hey are going to be changed to inside cats) and i everything says pothos are toxic. Now i know that these are very different animals and you cant always apply the same rules to both but i just want to confirm. Are they OK?

Thanks for the info guys. :)

Yep! They are fine.. My cat lays in a pothos on top of my kitchen cabinet all the time... This is the first time I have heard they are toxic to anything..'

Ya, i thought so as i have had no problems with anyone but i keep finding it.

Like here on the ASPCA sigh even under toxic.

It is just odd because i see it everywhere and i have seen so many cases (including myself) were we use these plants long term with no affect negative what so ever. I find it odd. Thanks though guys.

So weird... I see it's called "devils ivy" maybe the name implies something! :p

Aren't these one of the most recommended plants in a chameleon cage? Got two in my xage and he lives them for hiding, drinking and climbing.

If I understand correctly certain types of pothos plants are toxic but only very slightly to reptiles. So from what I gather a chameleon would have to eat an enormous amount for the toxin to have even a small affect. It's probable that a chameleon might not physically be able to eat enough of it to affect it. However I'm not sure what would happen if a mammal ate it, maybe it would affect them diferently but I'd assume it would be the same.

from my understanding reptiles and other pets have different plants that affect one another. pretty sure both pothos and schefflera's are bad for cats. when I first bought my plants at the nursery one of the 3 ladies helping knew alot of toxic plants cause shes a cat lady and was doing everything possible telling me not to get them yet thinking toxic to cats meant toxic to all animals

Many chameleon keepers use pothos. The plant is not really toxic, but its sap is high in oxalates and that has the potential to cause some issues. If you notice your chameleon eating pothos leaves then you should probably monitor the situation.
